Today
Today was a good day
Not to mention a beautiful day.
We have had rain off and on for the past couple of weeks, but today was close to 70 degrees and sorta magic. Maybe it was for the fact that we could actually go outside and feel spring upon us.
Hudson has become an early riser, well earlier than usual. 7am. Almost on the dot every morning. He used to yell for us in his room to come and get him out... even though he was/is in a toddler bed. Once in his bed - morning or night, or even afternoon- he stayed in bed. We never "taught" him this... he just did it. It was nice when he was the only one. Now with him and Reagan sharing a room - yes they share a room - the whole yelling thing had to be worked out another way. So - now he quietly comes out, closes the door softly and once the door is shut he booms a "GOOD MORNING MOMMY! WHERE IS MY DADDY?"
I can never be upset... it is a good way to wake up... even if it wakes Reagan up (90% of the time) too. I love to hear his little feet shuffle, or run, across the (wish I could say hard wood floors... but alas it is NASTY carpet that covers the floors in this little bungalow we call home).
Don't know why I went off on that tangent...
maybe because I don't want to forget how these mornings are.
I got to work out this morning... missing the girls who are slacking - you know who you are - but I guess one of them has a "justified" reason. Spencer has been trying to help me with my workout routines. He is a dedicated man when he gets something in his mind - think of it as done. Wish I had that gift. Since we are on the gym subject... every morning I go (5:30am) there is this woman that is in her 50s that is a Nazi at working out. Seriously. She is the energizer bunny... almost to a fault. It is sort of sad. Well... I am sure if I look like her when I am 50 something I will not be feeling sad for me. She runs CIRCLES around pretty much everyone. Anyway - I got on some machine next to her the other day and boy did she stink. I about fell off the machine. Funny stuff. Gotta love the gym.
Back to "today".
Once Hudson was up, Reagan squealed from her crib. I love, I mean L.O.V.E., the mornings I walk in and she is still covered up in her blankets and when I pick her up she smiles, rubs her eyes and is like jelly. You know "jelly" as in still limp from sleep; and then to top it off she is still warm/steaming warm from bed? Now, I am one who will take any morning (really... any time) cuddles, but the morning cuddles with the warm bodies - all I gots to say is yummers.
By the time both are fed, dressed and ready to go my house (this never ceases to amaze me) looks like something out of a war zone. I mean, really? my kids are only 3 and 11 months!? I can't even imagine what the years to come will bring. That really scares me. And why I can't get out of the house and to Hudson's school before the "last min." the door is open is a mystery to me!???
"Today" I picked Hudson up and he was in a splendid mood. Reagan and I had cleaned while he was at school... she was not about a nap this morning. Which is more normal than I would like. We came home threw Reagan in bed for a mandatory nap - made Hudson lunch and went outside for a picnic. That was fantastic. He played while I dozed in and out while laying in the sun. After a while I went inside to check on R. Yip, she was a'talkin'. Got her up and took her out to enjoy the sun. H and I played a little baseball (that kid is so like his father when it comes to athletics. Just blessed with the ability.) and found a few golf balls (we live on a golf course, really not as "romantic" as it sounds. But it is nice.) We then had some "chalk" time, to which I again started dozing. I woke up to a deep sleep "jerk" and saw that my cute little crawler (R) was about 30 feet away in our neighbor's driveway eating chalk. What a good mom. I just laughed. Picked her up and vowed never to bring a pillow out for a picnic again. It is dangerous with me, obviously.
Took the kids to Spencer's work. Spencer joined us for a little walk down to 31 flavors and we indulged ourselves in some good ole ice-cream. Walked Spencer back, but didn't leave. We hung out outside and stacked rocks, to which Reagan ate as well. She had some nice dirt mustache going on.
Went home, gave R a nap and caught up on some things while Hudson watched a few "superhero" episodes. Made tacos with the windows wide open and the sunlight pouring in. Gave the kids a bath and read a few books as well as the story of The Brother of Jared, in the B.O.M. H was WAY into it. I think it was the boats/barges. When I went to read about Christ blessing the children he shut the book and told me he didn't like that one... he wanted the sword one. At least he listens, right?
Now it is 8pm, both kids have been in bed close to an hour and I get Spenny B all to myself.
A good day.
