A little So. Cal lovin'

At the last min. Spencer and I decided to "high-tail" it down to Southern California. Spencer's parents co-own a beautiful beach-house/condo in San Clemente. It is beyond beautiful and overlooks the ocean and pier. Their home is done in all neutral colors, aka: white, dark brown and cream. It is what you would imagine a completely relaxing beach home to be like. One of my favorite things, besides being right on top of the beach, is at night all the windows are wide open, so you get that ocean breeze, the smell of the ocean and the sound. Not to mention all those who have bonfires; the smell of the fire and wood makes its way up through the condo. It is perfect. You really can't beat the sound of the ocean and the smell of a bonfire. We headed out later Friday evening, arrived at my parents late that night. We got up and going and made our way to the beach. It was so much fun to be there with Spencer's parents and sister Em and her cute little Si. My parents were able to swing by two of the three days we were there. It was a wonderful weekend.
Hudson was able to play in the ocean and beach for the first time, he was thrilled about the whole thing. Although he hated the sand that would stick to his hands. He would run straight for the ocean - which was a bit scary.

*Funny incident, if any of you know my father this is why it is funny. My dad went out on a boogie board while Spencer body surfed. Spencer knows to keep swimming towards the pier because of the current and riptide. Dad, on the other-hand... had his board in tow so it was a little more difficult for him to keep swimming side wise, so he wouldn't drift a mile north. So... dad started drifting, and actually the riptide was pulling him back too. He hadn't realized that he was so far, and then all of the sudden this little girl lifeguard started hauling out towards the ocean with all her gear. My mom and I sat there wondering who she saw that was in need of help - yes it was my father. So funny. He was so full of pride and told the gal that to. He let her know that he was not going to hold to anything she had to bring him in. He was not going to look like an idiot in front of his son-in-law; too late. He finally hung on and she pulled him in. How embarrassing for him. I actually was really happy she got him... he really thinks he is 20 and invincible, hardly. It gave us all a good laugh, especailly Spencer.

Looks like you had a blast. Loved the story about your dad and imagined him walking with his head hung in shame on his way back from the ocean!!
