LOST in youth

In my parent's backyard
there is this oak tree that grows bigger each time I am home.
I love this oak tree.  My father planted it.  It was one of the first things
my father put into the backyard; so it has been there since I was younger.

I remember looking at it's youth and thinking it will take forever to grow.
I will never enjoy it, it will never be big enough for me to enjoy while home.
I was wrong.
It has brought so much beauty to the backyard.  It somewhat anchors the yard.
It has handled twinkle lights for Spencer and my wedding gracefully.
It has shimmered with mirrors and blankets of candles for Aarean's wedding.
It has grown to shade the court.
It has shaded the putting green for my little ones as they perfected their "swing".
And just this past visit, it has played as a jungle gym for Hudson.
  It has proven me wrong.
I have enjoyed it.

Behind the Oak Tree there is a mini garden.
It provides oodles of squash. tomatoes. strawberries. corn. etc.
While home, Hudson and I were in the back and he started asking me questions about the "food in the ground".  I think that I should get some raised soil beds and plant for next season.  So that he can watch the food grow.  Plus, having a garden {if I can keep it alive} will give us reason to eat yummy food all the time.

What does the next picture remind you of?  That is if you watch t.v. shows?  Guesses?
LOST.
I laughed when I saw it.  Almost like he hears something coming... right? Right.

Whit - I don't know how you do it! Live so far away from your parents and that back yard. Even *I* miss that back yard. Sweetest. back yard. ever.

As always I love your pics.
