Cross one off

So... I cheated. I bought the blessing dress. I know that I said that I was going to sew it. But was in Gap (I still had full intention to sew a little white dress) getting a baby present for a friend when my eye caught hold of this little white number...

And all ambition went straight out the door. And then I saw this little sweet sweater to go with it....
I mean seriously? Why would I want to make anything; other than the "meaning" of making the dress... I know I know. But onto my logic:

  • I have way too much stuff to get done (more has been added to my never ending "gear up for baby" list)
  • It is all white, with not a single cross or frilly thing attached.
  • It probably cost less then what I would have spent on the fabric and pattern
  • It is really feminine, soft and I would buy it for me if it came in my size (don't know if that is a good thing)
  • The cardigan is just as soft
  • A cute little embellished silk flower pasted to her head on her blessing day will add the perfect touch.
  • NO SEWING
  • NO FRUSTRATION (seeing that this would be my first little girl dress I would have sown)
  • One less thing to get done
  • It is already done, and hanging in closet ready to go

***Now, if any of you have any grand tips on where to find a really delicate white blanket, let me know. My mom has this one my uncle brought home from Spain many years ago... hopefully she still has it. It is BEAUTIFUL. But if not, any ideas?

How cute!! Here is my philosophy: if you can make it you can buy it. And think of all the other things you can do instead of making a dress... like watch reality tv!!

Girl - you are way ahead of the game! When are you due? May? Yeah I'm due in...oh... 4 weeks and I still don't have a blessing outfit. Let alone my bag packed. Or the carseat in the car. AND our washing machine just broke last night - Good thing I was doing the LAST load of baby stuff!

Anyhow, you're looking great! I love that picture from a couple days ago. I'm off work on Maternity leave starting February 7th. Can you come out to Vacaville that weekend? Maybe we can meet up for shopping and lunch with the boys. It would be so fun to see you again and meet Spencer and Hudson!

I love it. It is so feminine and beautiful. And you know I'm a fan of the flower head accesories!! It will be a sad sad day when Ava finally grows some hair and I can no longer stick cute little flowers and bows to her head :-(

I love the dress and cardigan! I am with you on no frilly things. And I love the length. Sometimes I think those overly-long dresses take away from the beauty of the baby. Flower for the head is also a good choice, I can't stand those hats that come with those poofy dresses either. Anyway, good choice and she will look beautiful!! Can't wait to see a picture of her in it.

Go GAP!!!! Noah and Ellie both wore outfits from baby gap for the blessings. I am all for the easy road. It is totally adorable too. She can wear it more than once and that is a good thing!!!

I love that dress! I want one for each of my girls now. Super cute!
Do you knit or crochet? Blankets are fast and easy...but then that's adding, not subtracting from your list...
