Colors
I LOVE the colors that come along with Easter. They are light, happy and "fresh".
Lately my eyes have been drawn to lighter colors. Whites, creams, turquoise, lighter blues... grey - you get the picture.
{this picture is from last year}
Since moving I have wanted to re-do everything. I have all these images in my mind of what and how I want things... ya know it just costs a few dinero. To say the least.
One of the main problems is that where we are living isn't even "ours"... so most pictures in my mind really will not happen - yet. Anyway - at least we have a place, right? Right!
The other night {this is completely different topic - don't mind me} I was at a Young Women's activity and I had to explain a game we were doing. Now, I don't have problems with speaking in front of groups... but I do have a problem pronouncing words. Always have, always will. Not sure why. Really it is the least of my problems.
- Actually while Spence and I were in Michigan {living}, I was attending a Junior College for some classes and in my political science class all the students thought I was from another country... or from the sticks?... they said I had an accent? I told them I was from the west coast, but no... not another country. Well, it was as far as another country would be... but still. So - I try to avoid certain words... just because I know I say them wrong, but I can't "kick" them, so it is what it is. {is it funny my major would have been broadcasting journalism if I stuck it out at BYU?}
{Back to Y.W.}
I was describing some of the items on a try for the game, and one item was a crayon. An orange crayon to be specific. So I said "crayon", and everyone - in unison - {about 30 people or more} started to giggle and said "do you mean CRAY-ON", whatever.
I pronounce crayon like so: cr-en. Always have, always will. It is annoying to say "cray-yyyooon", and most people get what I am saying.
I will say that since moving from MI, I have tried to pronounce my words better. Such as "mounTian" - like a lot of happy valley {Utah} dwellers, I often say moun{silent/soft "T"}-unn, buTTon = but-unn
I blame my mother - who is from Utah, and my father from Idaho. Really, my dad should take more blame... sorry dad. This is a man who still says "she says, and he says" not to mention the days of the week "Wensdee, Thursdee..."
In my father's defense, I know few others who know as many words... and their definitions as my father. He is, one eloquent man. But because I need to blame someone for my "issues", I blame them. wink wink.
'nuff said.

do you work with the YW? I am in desperate need of mutual ideas!! What was this activity with the CRAYON? :) I totally pronounce certain words wrong as well and purposely avoid them. Ha. We can't be perfect in everything. ;)
This one made me laugh. If I think too hard about anything I say, I say it wrong. I miss your foreign accent. I have one too. That's why were kindred spirits.
you know....i say "cran" for crayon. no one has every called me out on it, though. haha!
about redoing your place....i do EVERY place we ever move into and i try to do it on the cheap (or over time) and i try lots of DIY projects. i also ask the landlord if they will pay to have something installed if i buy the parts (a new plumbing fixture, tiles, etc.) most the time- they go for it. its hard when you want awesome mouldings and architectural features....but you can do a ton to make it look really nice w/o tons of money (DONT tell anyone an interior designer said that! haha! not everyone can do it- but you have a good eye so i know you can pull it off! haha!). every place we live in, we leave it better than we moved in. you do loose a little money....but its SO worth it for the time you live there.
are you LOVING what Restoration Hardware is showing right now?! you are probably dying (sounds like the palette you are craving at the moment). also look into Gustavian/Scandanavian books on Amazon- they can serve as great inspiration for the palette you like. good luck!!!
