These two

{lake powell, 2010}

I found these two rolling around on the grass this evening... they were running from the lawn mower and would fall down giggling. Then R would climb on top of hudson pat his back and hug him {with which I could imagine her saying "Hudsie, I love you so so so much"... she will put the word "so" in there at any moment} to which H would just smile his satisfied smile.

They have been getting a long better, or at war {well usually a one ended war... with R getting the short end}. I sometimes chalk it up to R getting older and being able to play with H, or H getting older and starting to understand that R is just 2? I don't know? Whatever it is, in those few moments they are at peace with each other it is complete happiness for me. To watch them play and giggle and know they have each other forever - they have no idea how lucky they are.

The other week I was able to give a talk in church, it was on the restoration of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and I talked a lot about testimonies and such... anyway. While preparing for this talk I, of course, called my dad and asked him to go ahead and send me some "good stuff". He always has mounds of good things to put into talks/lessons. So he did. One of the quotes I read I loved. I loved everything about it, because it is true. :

“A century ago men were following with bated breath the march of

Napoleon and waiting with feverish impatience for news of wars.

And all the while in their homes babies were being born. But who

could think about babies, everyone was thinking about battles.

In one year between Trafalgar and Waterloo there stole into the world

a host of heroes. Gladstone was born in Liverpool, Tennyson of

the Somersby rectory and Oliver Wendall Holmes in Massachusetts.

Abraham Lincoln was born in Kentucky and music was enriched by

the advent of Flix Mendelson of Hamberg.

But nobody was thinking about babies, everybody was thinking

about battles. But which of the battles mattered more than those

precious babies?

We fancy that God can manage this world only with great battalions,

when all the while he has been doing it with beautiful babies. When

a wrong wants a righting or a truth wants preaching or a continent

wants discovering. God just sends a baby into the world to do it.”

I had never thought of this before, and it hit my heart. How grateful I am for my babies, for whatever their purpose is in this life... I know that they have one. That it may not be the president of the United States, or a general in war... but it will matter. Everyone makes a difference. Everyone.

And now we wait, we wait for February when another little one will appear in this Brinton home. One who will have a purpose; but more importantly one who will be loved, and know that they are loved. Who will know where they came from and will know where they are going... a little spirit to make our family's heart a little bigger... and how excited we are!

I'm assuming you're settled in your house now, right? I'll be stalking you soon (read = calling you over and over) so that we can get together.

Your due the same time I am. I will be 15 weeks on Sunday. Hope you are feeling ok. Babies make the world go round and the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world...we should not forget that either.
