The Cookie Snob...

If there ever was an award for "cookie snob" it might just be given to my cute husband. Seriously you ask? Yes. I am sure you know he will most likely eat whatever cookie that is present, but will have a long list of what was wrong with it when finished... or he just won't finish it.

Here is a little history:
When we were first married I made some yummy choco. chip cookies. The recipe from my mom, and the cookies I grew up with were some of my favorites. Needless to say... they were not up to par for my cookie monster. Spencer didn't even have to try them, he just looked at them and made the following comment, "They are too 'tall' ". TALL?!? What on earth does that mean? Tall? I was a little floored. And he started laughing, but stuck to his guns. They were to tall for him to eat, not "flat, chewy and warm". Okay... so 5 years later... still making cookies. He gets excited for choco. chip cookies, and has learned to keep his "tall" comments to himself. Although in the past 5 years I have tried new recipes, have done some creating with other recipes... to much of my dismay they have all been ... "ya know good".

So here we are at present time: The other night, Sunday night to be exact. I was finishing up dinner and thought I would throw some Pillsbury Doughboy Choco. chip cookies in the oven. Sometimes, those are just a lot easier (and to be honest for some reason I crave a warm choco. chip cookie with this pregnancy every now and then... and let's be reasonable, making home made cookies every time I have my desire is not going to happen. So Pillsbury saves the day every so often.). So in comes Spencer, ready to leave for Priesthood meeting and stops dead in his tracks.

"Whitney, you have completely outdone yourself. These are the best cookies you have ever made, ever!"

I just looked at him, and really thought hard about this one. Ummm, yes I have out done myself. I thought so too. Actually, I just looked at him and said, "they are packaged cookies, but hey you are easy to please... I guess." Then we both started laughing.

Who likes packaged cookies and packaged brownie mix rather than yummy homemade (from scratch) desserts?!? Oh, wait that would be my husband, Mr. Cookie Snob. Oh well!

*BTW, he did feel bad about the comment, but he was honest... and really - he is a easy man to please. Which I should be grateful for. I must admit I do hope Hudson likes home made stuff.

So funny Whit! I like my cookies nice and thick. Maybe the yummy cookies he grew up with were always store-bought dough kind without him realizing it ha, ha.

I am a cookie snob too. Do you even remember my serious obsession with choco chip cookies? And making the home made ones DOES happen for me far too often. Thanks extra 5 lbs. And now, Jackson has turned just like me. What have I created?

I have been laughing about the "tall" cookies all morning. He needs help. Love the new banner.......did you do it?"

That's hilarious! So sad, all this time you could have just been relying on the dough boy rather than burning the energy making them yourself.

I remember all of our late nights with refigerator cookies and milk...and I specifically remember that Spencer had to bring his own milk too!! He must be a milk snob as well...our watery skim milk just wasn't good enough for him :-) I also remember being so excited one day because I found a good ch. chip cookie recipe that made the cookies "fluffy" or tall as spencer would say and he came over and was like they are way too tall...oh well, all the more for me to eat!!
