Point Reyes

On New Year's Day Spencer, Hudson and I drove over to Point Reyes to get out of the house, and to try and "bird watch"... or rather tag along with Spencer as he found some new birds. (BTW we only saw two new birds... it was soooo windy that there was not a single bird in the sky. Sad for Spence, but I had to laugh at our luck.) I haven't had the itch to "bird" watch, but I must admit it can be interesting some times; ESPECIALLY if it is an unusual bird. At one point in our adventure Spencer mentioned to me that there was said to be a wood duck in the pond we were walking around, and so I was on the hunt to see it. Once more we were out of luck - no wood duck to be found... oh well.

Although the bird watching wasn't too successful, it was so nice to visit this amazing place. I couldn't believe we lived only an hour and twenty min. away from such a beautiful area. It was almost like being somewhere foreign, does that make sense? South Beach in/at Point Reyes is all rolling green cow pastures, with some old barns and wooded fences. In the spring imagine rolling yellow wild flowers scattering the hills - yes I know pretty isn't it? The hills roll into the sanded beach were there is usually no one in sight, or I should say "public public beach". It is smooth light brown sand and a deep blue sea, it goes on and on. There are a lot of bikers, and many many hiking trails - no we didn't even attempt. Hiking with a 2 yr old? Got to be kidding.
It was so fun to spend some time with Spencer and Hudson somewhere new.

Hope you all had a good new year!

Trying to figure out "where" the birds were.

Loves his "choo-choos"

What a beautiful place! That is one interesting looking duck, too bad you didn't get to see it.
