Day 2
{AS you will see... as the days continue... there become less and less pictures?}
We were set to wake up early and head on down to Ellis Island Ferry. I woke up "early" and told Spencer to go back to bed. It was too early. 7:30am Eastern time... 4:30 pacific. Not that excited to see some Ellis Island.
So I slept for about 45 min. and got up and ready. We were soon on the train {which by the way we - spencer & I - really love public transportation. Some good stuff and people watching can take place. Although, I will admit that after a "squishy ride" I hate people. I really do.}
We arrived at the ticket both and were welcomed with a big old line of people. After a good while waiting we finally boarded the ferry. That is when we got up and personal with the Lady of Liberty. Such awesomeness. She really was beautiful. Stunning is more of the word I am looking forward.
Here are a few shots of the leading lady & city.
To tell you the truth when deciding what to do while in N.Y. I didn't really want to take this ferry ride. I don't really know why? It just didn't "get" me. But Spencer prodded. So I folded. And guess who enjoyed it more? Yep -- me. Spencer could have taken the ride there, stayed on the boat and ferried his way on home. Not me. I was enthralled. I loved all the history and stories that have come from the Island, and those whom have traveled "through" it.
It was rich.
We then shuffled over to Ground Zero. Walked through the church near where the twin towers were and submerged ourselves in all the news of that day. It was as you would think; humbling.
Below is one of the headstones found in that church yard. It astounds me that this church and the cemetery surrounding it stood as is. Not much was ruined.
After which we walked around Wall St., saw where George Washington was sworn into the presidency.
We then headed over to Canal St. and got my mom a cute little "Jimmy Choo" purse. Spencer just laughed at everything going on. All the women on Canal trying to get us to buy things. I "lowered" the prices and Spence laughed his head off.
After which we went back to the apartment and got ready for our night out with the Jersey Boys. Had some dinner, Spencer felt sick, and my dinner was yuck... so we headed out of that restaurant and got a few sliced of pizza.
Jersey Boys was perfect. Had some {a lot} of language, but was really good. We loved it. Spencer's knees were to his chest, but he informed me that he could go and see a Broadway show every night; it was that good. I would agree.
After the show we wanted some dessert and headed over to Juniors. Had some yummy late night snack, then decided to have our 2nd dinner after that. It hit the spot.
Went back to the apartment and slept deeply. Lovely.
