Start spreading the news, Im leaving today
I want to be a part of it - new york, new york
These vagabond shoes, are longing to stray
Right through the very heart of it - new york, new york
Day One: {Well, the first full day}
We arrived in the "Big City" late Thurs. night, sans kiddos.
My mom, the amazing mama she is, took the kids under her wing for the weekend...
and tended to a mouse.
{That is a story for another time. Well... Let's just say that when we got back -> the mouse ran over her back as she slept on the couch -> which lead to her bunkin' with Spence and me. Don't worry we caught the mouse, but I know gross huh??! I don't even want to talk about it. Gross.}
We stayed with Lynne, Spencer's super duper aunt, and was spoiled with an agenda and a beautiful warm place to stay right on 5th. We don't joke around. ha.
{Lynne's apartment}
First thing we did Friday morning was take a stroll around/in Bryant Park. I could imagine the huge tent draping itself over the grass for the upcoming fashion shows. {no there wasn't a tent, just in my head} It was absolutely beautiful. So green, and kind of peaceful. Bryant Park even had this little merry-go-round that looked like it had been dreamt up by Mary Poppins herself.
{I love boys who wear "cute" socks. Does me in.}
The Old Public Library sits in front of Bryant park, and is remarkable. I don't know if it was all the travel, hormones {probably} or I was just plane old "moved"; but, when I walked through the doors and saw the beauty of this library I got all misty. It was, well. It made me want to travel. Travel to Europe and see the history that has been kept. Architecture and history fascinates me. To. the. bone. I am not sure that it fascinates my husband to the bone. But he is good to me and humors me.
After the Library, we strolled over to Time Square. Very much what you would expect.
We were done with it in a few moments. Fun to see, but other things awaited us...
After walking around a bit we took off to meet up with Lynne and to see Madison Square.
After which we headed down to 2nd Avenue Deli, which is a Jewish Deli... and it was amazing.
{before we left CA. I was in Costco and sat next to this couple whom were originally from N.Y. all the man kept saying was that I HAD to go to a Jewsih deli. He didn't care which one, but that I had to. I wouldn't regret it. And to the Costco man: I don't.}
One of Lynne's co-workers told us to get nothing but Pastrami on Rye with mustard. Done deal.
We also had the fries. Spencer tried himself some chopped liver on toast - I about lost my "toast" watching him take a bite. He nearly lost his after putting it in his mouth... and we were done with the adventure of liver. All I had to do was look at it and it was decided that I wouldn't even touch it. Nope, nada me touching.
We did however consume Matzoh ball soup and cream soda {which was made the pastrami even better - the soda - huh go figure?!}.
{we couldn't forget the pickles... I mean really.}
Ummm, yes... he really is this cute.
We hopped on a train and headed to our next stop:
{Can you guess what could possibly make this man so happy???}
This was one of the major things that got spencer reserving our flight.
A Yankees vs. Boston Red Socks game.
It was on his "gotta do before I die" list.
It was amazing. Such history in those two teams.
We ate like we were at a ball game. Got a little cold. And saw that Jay Z {?sp?} was about 20 rows in front of us. Nice. I love spotting famous people. It is strangely fun.
The picture below is my reaction to the score board, slowly realizing we are only at the top of the third inning, and it has been 2 hours. Not to mention I was frozen. FROZEN.
I kept telling myself "Spencer's dream list, dream list dream list..."
It wasn't helping.
I think he saw it in my eyes when I asked how long "these" games can go for... he started to laugh and told me we could go. No, I didn't make him leave. I really did want to stay to at least the 7th inning and sing a little "ballgame". Then I {we} could go.
BUT thankfully the game picked up and got a little more exciting.
But, I still froze.
{It was worth it, I promise.}
And then there was the 2nd day...
{coming soon}

I love New York, it's been 10 years since I went but I fell in love with it from the start, not necessarily as a place to live but I place full of wonder! Glad you had the chance to REALLY enjoy it.
Loved reading all about your trip. Can't wait for day 2! So jealous too!
These are the coolest pictures. When we went we hardly took any at all! You are amazing. And I miss New York and I have never even lived there. :)
