What's Cookin' Good lookin'?
This past weekend My mom and sister Aarean came out to visit, well... to visit and take a cooking class. (Spencer, for Christmas, surprised me with a Viking Cooking class, and it was this last Sat. When my mom and sister heard that I was taking this class they jumped head first onto the "band-wagon". )
It was so much fun to be with them, I miss them so much. My mom flew in on Wed. afternoon and Aarean on Thurs. Hudson was in hog-heaven. He was all about them... and wanted nothing to do with me (for the most part) the entire time... which was nice.
It is always funny because for some reason Hudson seems to learn at least 10 new things every time he is with his grandmas. Almost like he knows their wisdom and lets whatever they are teaching him to sink in, unlike me. AKA his "unwise" mom (yes this is very true 90% of the time, although I do try sometimes to be wise). I bought him some flash cards; two sets. One with objects that match certain colors and the other set is of numbers and pictures that coincide. HE LOVED THEM. And came out learning tons in one evening after going through them 5 times with my mom, of course. It is so much fun to watch the little wheels in his head turn and learn new things.
ANYWAY -
The cooking class was very yummy - we learned how to make:
- Shula's Steak House Famous BBQ Shrimp
- Ruth's Chris Steak House's warm Peppered Tenderloin Steak Salad
- Roasted Fresh Asparagus
- Delmonico's Dry-Aged Rib-Eye with Emeril's Worcestershire Sauce
- Emeril's Essence Creole Saesoning (Bayou Blast)
- Peter Luger's German Fried Potatoes
- Morton's of Chicago Godiva Hot Chocolate Cake
Okay so.... if any look interesting, let me know I will get the recipes to you... I just didn't want to blog all of them. And the best... the dry-aged meat was AAAAAMMMMAZING! You could cut it with a fork. Yummy! (or as my mom would say: scrumptious) The shrimp was too big for me (I like little hot shrimp, but still it was yummy).
The peppered tenderloin steak was way good, the salad was not my favorite, but the meat made it worth it.
Okay so I am not a fan of chocolate cake that much - I mean they are good, but I would never crave one... but seriously this cake we had was DIVINE. It was really one of the best little cakes I have ever had (chocolate wise).
I do wish that the class offered more technique rather than just cooking, but again, it was loads of fun to do with my mom and sister. It was actually pretty comical, because the instructor would come up to us and say : "Oh good job cutting the onion." I would sit there and think I wonder if they think that everyone who comes to these classes never cooks?! I am sure my mom has made a few more dinners then this lady - but all in all... she was a hoot - the instructor.
So it was a fantastic weekend. With yummy food, family, shopping, and a constant play date for Hudson. I loved every moment!!!

You had to know I was going to request the recipes. Let's see... How about the cake, the potatoes and the Delmonico? Too much? All take any you offer. I'm so excited to try them out!
I'll take the chocolate cake too!!
I kept thinking about this last night...I can't believe you don't crave chocolate cake! You must be crazy or blessed with good taste buds. I wish I had some self control there.
